UBC WindFest!
Date: January 25, 2026
Time: 9:00 am -6:00 pm
Location: Vancouver, BC
Hosted by the University of British Columbia, WindFest is a full day of workshops, masterclasses and performances by UBC woodwind faculty. This year, there will be a bassoon masterclass held by bassoonist Ingrid Chiang (Vancouver Opera Orchestra) and oboist Geronimo Mendoza (Vancouver Island Symphony). All levels of players are welcome to attend WindFest!
UVic Oboe Day
Date: February 8, 2026
Time: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Location: Victoria, BC
Directed by Michelle Feng, UVic Oboe Day will be a day dedicated to all things oboe. There will be Masterclasses with Michelle Feng (Victoria Symphony) and Joo Bin Yi (Vancouver Symphony Orchestra). There will also be an oboe choir, chamber music reading sessions, hands-on oboe care, quick fix maintenance tips, and a chance to try various oboes from different makers with Jim Mason (Jimboe Products).
McGill Bassoon Day
Date: February 21, 2026
Time: 9:30 am - 6:00 pm
Location: Montreal, QC
The 23rd annual Bassoon Day at McGill is hosted by Stephan Levesque (OSM). This year, special guests include Suzanne Nelsen (Boston Symphony) and Mathieu Harel (OSM). In addition to watching masterclasses run by Nelsen and Harel, attendees will have the opportunity to try bassoons and bocals by Benson Bell, and will end the day by attending a concert featuring the 23rd Bassoon Day special guests.

Paul Buttemer Day

Location: Ottawa, ON
Every year on May 4, Joann Simpson hosts a Reed Making Marathon in remembrance of Canadian bassoonist and reed inventor Paul Buttemer. Materials will be provided, and different tools will be shared. This event is open to any level of reed makers, even beginners! If you are looking for a great opportunity to learn and connect with bassoonists, Paul Buttemer Day is for you!

Learn MoreFrancois Leleux Masterclass

Location: Montreal, QC
Francois Leleux will be hosting a Masterclass at the Université de Montréal (in French!), and the general public is welcome to come! Leleux is a sought-after musician who has been invited to perform with the New York Philharmonic, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and many more world-renowned ensembles.
Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to learn valuable advice from an experienced musician. Bring a notepad and be prepared to take notes!
